I believe that ALL people deserve access to excellent healthcare. I believe that what we do every single day at CCHCI is important and meaningful in ways beyond what words can even express. I believe that only through the diligence of teamwork can CCHCI be an exceptional organization. I am inspired and driven forward daily by the conviction and talent of my colleagues who believe the same.
Raised in rural Wisconsin on a small family farm, I developed a keen drive to “make a difference” in my world early in my life. Later, public health work amongst children living in poverty in both the United States and abroad resulted in my pursuit of a medical degree and training as a community pediatrician. My interest in working with rural and medically-underserved communities brought me to Cochise County in 2006. Beginning in 2014, I was honored to assume leadership of a capable and growing team of highly-motivated professionals who are dedicated to the health and well-being of families living in the rural US/Mexico borderlands of southeastern Arizona.
During my free time, I work with my wife and others on an all-volunteer nonprofit development organization (Rosa Vera Fund, Inc.) that has provided medical treatment for children and employment/education for healthcare workers in the Republic of Bolivia since 2003. I also relish spending time with my wife and family, especially exploring the Arizona desert and beyond.
