Freeport Foundation donates to CCHC Renovation – Bisbee Observer

The Freeport-MacMoRan Foundation donated $45,000 to the Chiricahua Community Health Center to help with ongoing renovations of its Bisbee facility at 108 Arizona St. Robert Quintanar, Freeport’s Copper Queen branch manager, is pictured with Annabel Barrow, CCHC Bisbee Administrator; Deena Amavizca, medical support staff supervisor; and Sarah Pacheco, CCHC’s public information officer.

According to Pacheco, the remodeling project was made possible in part by a nearly $1 million facility improvement grant awarded to replace outdated plumbing and fixtures.

Pacheco said, “In a building that was once a house, then a birthing center, then a medical center, then a solo medical practice, we are renovating it to bring a state-of-the-art family health center to Bisbee. The internal infrastructure of the building was antiquated, and dates back to the days when the copper mines were active. The outdated plumbing and electrical fixtures were beginning to threaten safety concerns, and the exam rooms could not be accessed by a gurney in cases of emergency. With this help from Freeport MacMoRan we are continuing to work to bring this facility up to date.”
