JOINED CCHCI IN 2021
Jonathan Rutherford, PMHNP-BC, is a psychiatric nurse practitioner at Chiricahua Community Health Centers who joined the organization in 2021 and provides behavioral health care for patients of all ages.

Why I Believe in the Mission of CCHCI

This organization was founded on the principle of bringing quality healthcare to even the most needy and vulnerable. While anyone can experience behavioral health difficulties, it is especially prevalent among those with the least access to essential resources. I value that Chiricahua is able to bring these essential services to those who need them most.

Jonathan Rutherford’s Background as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner

I have long been fascinated by the mind and have always valued helping people navigate mental health challenges. I initially studied psychology and earned my bachelor’s degree in the field before transitioning to nursing as a way to better support my family.
In 2015, I joined the Behavioral Health Unit at Canyon Vista Medical Center, bringing together my interests in psychology and nursing. In 2016, I began pursuing advanced nursing education to become a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner. I became director of the Behavioral Health Unit in 2017 and completed my graduate education in 2020. I obtained my nurse practitioner license in 2021 and later that year joined Chiricahua Community Health Centers.
More important than my professional career is my family. I love my wife and my five children more than anything else.
