Health Insurance Open Enrollment Is Coming. Chiricahua Can Help You Get Ready.

Kevin Callison | October 13, 2026

Health insurance can be confusing. Between unfamiliar terminology, changing costs, eligibility requirements, and enrollment deadlines, figuring out the right coverage for yourself or your family can feel overwhelming.

But you don’t have to navigate the process alone.

With Health Insurance Marketplace Open Enrollment beginning November 1, 2026, now is a great time to review your coverage options and prepare for the year ahead.

At Chiricahua Community Health Centers, we believe that everyone deserves access to quality health care. That’s why our Enrollment Specialists provide free, personalized assistance to help individuals and families throughout Cochise County understand their options and take the next steps toward getting covered.

Understanding Your Health Insurance Options

Not all health insurance programs work the same way, and knowing where to begin can sometimes be the hardest part.

Depending on your household income, family size, and individual circumstances, you may qualify for one of several programs.

AHCCCS: Arizona’s Medicaid Program

The Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System, better known as AHCCCS, provides health coverage to eligible Arizona residents.

AHCCCS may be an option for qualifying individuals and families, including children, pregnant women, older adults, and people with disabilities.

Unlike Marketplace insurance, you can apply for AHCCCS throughout the year. You don’t have to wait for Open Enrollment.

Our Enrollment Specialists can help you understand the application process and determine what information you may need to provide.

Health Insurance Marketplace

The Health Insurance Marketplace allows individuals and families to explore private health insurance plans.

Depending on your eligibility and household income, financial assistance may be available to help lower monthly premiums and other health care costs.

Marketplace Open Enrollment for 2027 coverage begins November 1, 2026.

Important dates include:

  • November 1, 2026: Open Enrollment begins.
  • December 15, 2026: Deadline to enroll for coverage beginning January 1, 2027.
  • January 15, 2027: Open Enrollment ends. Eligible enrollments after December 15 generally begin February 1.

Even if you already have Marketplace insurance, reviewing your coverage each year is important. Premiums, deductibles, provider networks, and available plans can change.

Our team can help you understand the enrollment process so you can make informed decisions about your coverage.

KidsCare: Health Coverage for Children

Families who don’t qualify for AHCCCS may still have options for their children.

KidsCare, Arizona’s Children’s Health Insurance Program, provides health coverage to eligible children under age 19 whose families meet program requirements.

Like AHCCCS, KidsCare applications are accepted year-round.

If you’re unsure whether your children qualify, our Enrollment Specialists can help guide you through the application process.

Already Have Insurance? It’s Still Worth Reviewing Your Coverage.

Having health insurance doesn’t necessarily mean your current plan will continue to meet your needs.

Changes in employment, income, household size, or health care needs can affect which coverage options are available.

Before renewing your insurance, consider asking yourself:

  • Has my household income changed?
  • Are my preferred doctors and health care facilities still in my plan’s network?
  • Have my monthly premiums, deductibles, or other out-of-pocket costs changed?
  • Does my plan still cover the medications and services I need?
  • Could another available plan better meet my family’s needs?

Taking time to review your options now may help you avoid unexpected expenses or gaps in coverage later.

What If I Don’t Qualify for Health Insurance?

If you don’t qualify for AHCCCS or other assistance programs, or you’re currently uninsured, you may still have options for affordable care.

Chiricahua offers a Sliding Fee Discount Program that helps eligible patients access health care at a reduced cost.

Eligibility is based on household income and family size.

This program is not health insurance, but it can help make qualifying health care services more affordable.

Our Enrollment Specialists can explain the program, discuss eligibility requirements, and help you understand how to apply.
