Chiricahua Community Health Centers is proud to share the soft opening of its new Freeport McMoRan Training Center, located at 307 Arizona Street in Bisbee. Chiricahua Training Center Bisbee

On Thursday, March 12, the space welcomed its first official gathering, the Freeport McMoRan Bisbee Area Community Partnership Panel Meeting. This quarterly meeting brings together local partners and Freeport staff to collaborate on community initiatives. With the facility recently receiving its certificate of occupancy from the City of Bisbee, Chiricahua moved quickly to begin putting the space to use.
While a formal ribbon cutting and naming ceremony will take place in the coming months, the early opening reflects Chiricahua’s commitment to serving the community without delay.
The training center is housed in a historic 1905 brick building, one of the earliest structures in Bisbee’s Warren district. Over the years, the building has served many purposes, including hosting Warren’s first movie theater and later operating as the Bledsoe Mauzy Motors car dealership from 1958 through the mid-1970s.

After sitting vacant for years, Chiricahua purchased the property in 2017 and began restoring its purpose within the community.
The initial renovation transformed 1,200 square feet into a thriving community pharmacy. The remaining 2,300 square feet, once unusable, has now been fully revitalized into a modern, multi-use training and meeting space.
This transformation was made possible through support from the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), Freeport McMoRan, and Arizona Complete Health.
In addition to the interior upgrades, Chiricahua improved the surrounding property by landscaping and paving the adjacent parking lot, ensuring safe and accessible space for training participants and visitors.
The Freeport McMoRan Training Center represents more than a renovated building. It is a place where partnerships grow, ideas are shared, and solutions are developed to better serve Cochise County.
At Chiricahua, our mission is clear: caring for patients and building healthy communities. This new space strengthens our ability to bring people together and expand the impact of that mission.
We look forward to officially celebrating this milestone with our community in the coming months.
