Why I Believe in the Mission of CCHCI

For the past 30 years of my serving as a counselor in various capacities, at diverse locations/ institutions and organizations, Chiricahua Community Health Centers is where, I believe that we can make, “Health for All” a reality for our community. “Health for all,” is about offering hope and healing to everyone who is willing to receive it, and I am proud to say that here at Chiricahua, we are believing, practicing, and putting all our effort towards that very goal. I have seen firsthand that there is a culture of compassion cultivating an awareness of genuine care, because this has been a longstanding cry of my heart for many years, to finally work in an environment where we can acknowledge and treat all our members in the community, as valuable human beings, worthy of life, health, and prosperity. Why I Believe in the Mission of CCHCI

This organization was founded on the principle of bringing quality health care to even the most needy and vulnerable. While anyone can experience behavioral health difficulties, it is especially prevalent among those with the least access to essential resources. I love that Chiricahua can help bring these essential services to those who need it most.

JONATHAN'S BACKGROUND

I have long been fascinated by the mind and loved helping those with struggles with their mental health. I initially studied psychology, obtaining my bachelor’s degree in that field. However, I decided to change to nursing, figuring I would be able to better care for my family. In 2015, I joined the Behavioral Health Unit at Canyon Vista Medical Center, marrying my two fields. In 2016, I began pursuing further nursing education with the goal to become a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. In 2017, I became the director of the Behavioral Health Unit. In 2020, I completed my education, and in 2021, I obtained my license as an NP. In late 2021, I joined Chiricahua Community Health Centers, Inc.

More important than my career is my family. I love my wife and my five children more than anything else.

Why I Believe in the Mission of CCHCI

Everyone has a different, personal definition of “health.” Whatever that definition may be, I believe that all of us deserve choices when it comes to our physical and mental health, as well as someone who we trust to help us navigate those choices. I work each day to offer those choices and that trust to our patients as part of Chiricahua’s mission of “Health for All.”

PATRICK'S BACKGROUND

Until I became a nurse, I followed a very scattered professional path. I have worked in a bakery, home construction, driving a tractor for a marina boatyard, teaching elementary school, teaching college, bartending, and as an innkeeper. I lived in 11 different states as well as Costa Rica, Spain, and 3 years in Chile. Frankly, this chapter of my life was pretty fun but I also got pretty lost! In the process of being found (by my wife), I decided to become a nurse and began working for a local in-patient behavioral health facility here in Cochise County. My experience there encouraged me to become a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. Now, I work alongside my wife at CCHCI: the best possible destination along this wild and winding road that is life!
