Why I Believe in the Mission of CCHCI

I work at Chiricahua because of its strong mission to promote positive change in people’s lives. “Health for All” is not just about treating medical needs. To me, it means supporting the whole person, including physical, mental, social, and environmental well-being.

I strive to work as part of a team to provide solution-focused, person-centered, and evidence-based mental health services that help individuals grow stronger and healthier.

Background & Experience

Sherri was born and raised in Illinois and, as a military spouse for over 23 years, experienced life in many communities before settling in Arizona in 2006.

After her children were grown, she returned to school to pursue her passion for counseling, earning her master’s degree in Community Counseling from the University of Phoenix.

Sherri brings a wide range of experience working with diverse populations, including:

  • Case management and employment support for individuals with developmental disabilities
  • Social services leadership in skilled nursing facilities
  • Juvenile probation services for youth ages 9–17
  • Inpatient counseling for substance use and serious mental illness
  • Community-based counseling across all age groups

Her breadth of experience allows her to meet patients where they are and provide meaningful, practical support.

Therapeutic Approach

Sherri uses a person-centered, solution-focused approach tailored to each individual. Her training includes cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), motivational interviewing, play therapy, and psychotherapy.
