Benefits Overview – Provider Staff

CCHCI has established a variety of employee benefit programs designed to assist you and your eligible dependents in meeting the financial burdens that can result from illness, disability, and death, and to help you plan for retirement.  Currently, CCHCI pays 60 – 92% of the cost of health insurance coverage for employees and their dependent children only.  Employees may elect to cover a spouse at their own expense.

The following benefit programs are available to all regular full time employees (working 30 or more hours per week) on the first of the month following 60 days of continuous service:

Retirement Program

CCHCI provides employees with the option to contribute a portion of their income on a pre-tax or Roth basis to a 403b Plan.  Employees are eligible to enroll in the plan upon hire.  After one year of service, CCHCI provides up to a 3% matching contribution for participants in the 403b plan.

Paid Time Off

CCHCI provides eligible employees with Paid Time Off (PTO) for purposes of vacation, illness, disability, or personal reasons.  PTO is accrued on a per pay period basis and may be used after it becomes available.

Bereavement

To assist employees in times of grieving, PTO is provided for eligible circumstances.

CME

As a condition of employment, the physician will participate in continuing medical education programs to remain abreast of current developments, skills, procedures, and treatments in their field of practice in order to maintain his/her professional competence and as required by law. CCHCI pay CME leave and employee can receive a generous stipend monthly or reimbursement for CME related expenses.

Holidays

CCHCI normally observes nine (9) paid holidays.

Medical and Public Liability Insurance:

As a Federally Qualified Health Center, CCHCI is deemed covered by the federal government under the Federal Tort Claims Act (FTCA).  Due to its excellent reputation in reducing frivolous lawsuits, this insurance is considered the “gold standard” for medical liability insurance in the United States.

What this means in practical terms is that providers at CCHCI do not have to practice “defensive medicine”. We order studies and tests only if we feel it is in the best interests of our patients.  As an added bonus, it is not necessary to obtain tail coverage should you leave CCHCI at some point down the road.

Non-Tangible Benefits

Work/Life Balance

CCHCI offers an unusual degree of flexibility in provider scheduling and employment.   Working longer shifts followed by four day weekends, going on extended sabbaticals, or working two weeks on/two weeks off are not unheard of at CCHCI. Basically, if we can find win-win-win arrangements for our patients, providers and CCHCI, we will move forward.

For Medical Providers:  As CCHCI has agreements with regional hospitals with hospitalist services, hospital coverage is not required.  (If a provider has interest in maintaining their hospital or ER skills, arrangements to do so can be made).  The call schedule at CCHCI is “phone call” only, occurs once every 8 – 12 weeks, and carries with it extra compensation in the form of a stipend.

Quality, not quantity:  CCHCI is committed to allowing as much time as possible for providers to care for their patients.  Although our providers certainly work hard, we do not have a culture of high volume.  The productivity goal for most providers is to achieve an average of one patient every 30 minutes.

Provider-Led Projects & Initiatives:  Once established, providers who have an interest or passion in a particular area may be able to arrange dedicated time, budget and mentorship to carry the project to success.  Providers can either apply past experience in program development/management, or may develop their skills while at CCHCI. With CCHCI’s support, some providers have secured significant funding for their projects, sit on advisory boards, present at regional and national conferences, and most importantly, make a real difference in our communities.  Some provider-led projects that are ongoing include:

Teamwork & Collegiality

As implementation of the Patient Centered Medical Home moves forward, unparalleled teamwork is developing between providers and support staff at all levels.

Turn no patient away

We passionately believe in caring for ALL people, regardless of ability to pay.  It doesn’t matter if a patient changes insurance or even loses insurance–we will see them, regardless of ability to pay. We are truly a mission-driven organization,.

Loan Repayment

Many of our providers have received loan repayment from both state and federal programs.
