The mission of CCHCI is founded on the absolute certainly that all individuals are worthwhile and important, regardless of their ability to pay, their background, their beliefs, their identification, or their path. Healthcare for all means my purpose every day is to try to make each person's experience a little easier in whatever way I am able. This positive and nurturing effect is compounded because every person who works at CCHCI is invested in this same principle to build a healthcare system around a community so that we are only doing well when our community is doing well.
I was born and raised in a small town in south-eastern Iowa, Fairfield, within the Transcendental Meditation Movement which is founded on principles of the Vedic literature including the ancient system of wellness known as Ayurveda. As a teen I moved with my family to Tucson and graduated from Tucson High Magnet school. I worked at Nadine’s Bakery and spent Saturdays nights at the Rocky Horror Picture Show. As I was completing my undergraduate and graduate education, God was working on me to expand my perspective and understanding of the spiritual nature of my purpose which is to care for and serve others. I understand that I, like my patients, am a tri-part being – physical, mental/emotional, and spiritual – and that I must be attentive and aware of all of these components of myself to be well. I believe my job here is not to make judgements or impose my own opinions about the path my patient’s take, but to hold space for them and to provide encouragement and tools to help allow them to reach their own goals regarding health and wellness.
I completed training in Family and Community Medicine through Penn State Hershey Medical Center after graduating from the University of Arizona Tucson undergraduate and medical school where I studied Neuroscience and Cognitive Science and minored in Fine Arts and Music in addition to completing a Post-Sophomore Fellowship in Pathology. I have also completed advanced training in Ayurveda from the National Ayurvedic Institute and Maharishi University of Management.
I see children and adults of all ages, from newborn to geriatrics and everything in between. My perspective is more alternative than most and I gladly incorporate integrative therapies into patient’s care plans if they are interested in that perspective. In addition to the excellent behavioral health team at Chiricahua I offer mental healthcare including substance abuse treatment and MAT. I’m interested in providing care for patients with different abilities and communication styles including American Sign Language. I perform most office procedures including joint injection; nail removal; circumcision; IUD and Nexplanon; GYN procedures including PAP smears, endometrial biopsy, and Bartholin cyst management; laceration care and first aid; dermatologic procedures including lesion removal and skin biopsy; treatment for individuals with HIV and Hepatitis C.
