Family Nurse Practitioner JOINED CCHCI IN 2021 Why I Believe in the Mission of CCHCI

I believe that being able to pursue anything in life all starts with a foundation of health. And having a strong foundation of health requires access to high quality, reliable, and affordable preventative and primary care. CCHCI's mission of Health For All and acceptance of all patients despite ability to pay allows any person the opportunity to build their foundation of health and this is something I want to be a part of.

Ariel'S BACKGROUND

I was born in Boston, raised in Connecticut, and attended undergrad at Union College in Upstate New York. I have always been drawn to working with underserved communities and because of this, I did a year of AmeriCorps followed by two years of Peace Corps in Mozambique.

While in Mozambique, I had the opportunity to volunteer with a rural health clinic and decided to pursue healthcare as a career.

Upon returning to the US, I completed an accelerated BSN at Johns Hopkins University and worked as an RN on a urology/thoracic surgical unit. I received the Nurse Corps Scholarship and was able to complete my master’s degree while working as an RN.

I graduated with my MSN with a specialty in family primary care from Johns Hopkins University and spent several years working at Johns Hopkins Hospital on an inpatient psychiatric and detox unit. I also worked on a mobile van providing medication-assisted treatment to patients with substance use disorders and worked at a COVID isolation site during the height of the pandemic in 2020-2021.

After 7 years in Baltimore, I decided I wanted a change and moved to Arizona to work for CCHCI as a mobile clinic medical provider. I’m excited to make the transition from urban to rural health!
